Trails West Field Trips for 2026
By Bill Bishell
The 2026 field season is shaping up to be another good one.
To date we have the following “fun” trips planned. As always, anyone attending one of our trips must be a member for insurance reasons.
The Yreka Trail – This trail branches off of the Applegate trail at the south end of Klamath Lake and heads west to end up in the town of Yreka on I-5. Mike Vickers will be leading this from July 7th to 9th.
The California Trail – This is the first section that we call “To The River”. It starts in Idaho just south of Highway 86 and the Snake River and finishes up on the Humboldt River near the town of Wells on I-80 in Nevada. Kevin and Dana Moore will be leading this from August 10th to the 14th.
The Applegate Trail – This will be the second section from the south end of Goose Lake to Southern Oregon. We will end up just outside of Ashland, Oregon. Bob and Terry Easley will head this up from September 8th to 12th.
The Lassen trail – This starts at the south end of Goose Lake, and ends up at the little town of Vina on Highway 99. Jim O’Callaghan will lead this from September 9th to 13th.
Emails will be sent out to all members about these trips when it’s time to sign up and contact the leaders for more information.
In addition to the above fun trips, there will be many work trips where we will be repairing and moving markers to different locations. This will be announced to all members by email as the work is identified and dates are set. We always need folks to help out here.
